PURPOSE: Despite it’s name, a winter debris cover can be used at any time of the year to keep leaves, dirt and debris out of a swimming pool. In addition to keeping your pool clean, a winter debris cover: 

  • can reduce pool water evaporation by up to 85%. The less water you lose to evaporation, the more money you save by not having to top up your pool.

  • can significantly reduce your pool chemical usage, especially if you close off your swimming pool during the winter months. This also saves you money and benefits the environment.

 

CONVENTIONAL COVERS AND THEIR FAILINGS: Winter debris covers come in many different forms. The most basic type is a ‘one-size-fits-all’ polythene or PVC sheet, secured in place with either breeze blocks or water pillows. Not pretty...and hardly practical!

Most conventional winter debris covers are made from solid PVC membrane. A serious failing of solid covers is that rainwater accumulates on top of the cover, posing a serious hazard to young children. This water stagnates over time and then becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, tadpoles and other forms of aquatic life. 

 

OUR WINTER DEBRIS COVERS ARE DIFFERENT: They're practical, user-friendly, aesthetically-pleasing and capable of withstanding the rigours of a harsh climate. In addition:

  • Our winter debris covers are custom-made to fit your pool. We contour the cover to fit around any Roman steps and stainless-steel ladders. The cover comes with a 30cm (approx.) overlap all the way around the pool.
  • Most importantly, our covers are manufactured from finest grade woven polyethylene mesh. Mesh covers allow rainwater (which is soft and pure) to filter through the cover...and into the pool.  Leaves and debris on the surface of the cover dry out and are blown away.
  • Our covers come with reinforced corners, anti-chaffing strips and stainless steel fixings at approximately 1.2 - 1.5 metre centres. Pools 10x5m or greater can be supplied (at extra cost) with webbing straps stitched across the full length and width of the cover.  This provides extra strength. These are called "criss-cross covers".
  • The stainless-steel, spring-loaded tensioning anchors allow you to tighten the straps of the cover to provide a nice secure fit.
  • Our winter debris covers come with a free storage bag and full installation instructions. But if you prefer us to install your cover for a small extra charge, please ask.
  • You have a choice of two mesh colours: Forest Green or Ocean Blue.
